Safety: Rules of Snowmobile Safety


Riding Safety:
  • Make sure that your snowmobile is in good working order before setting out.
  • Obey the signs on the trail and do not tamper with them. These are posted for everyone?s safety.
  • Keep to the right of the trail and always yield right of way to oncoming pedestrians, skiers and other snowmobile groups.
  • Use proper hand signals.
  • Avoid unfamiliar bodies of frozen water when driving at night.
  • Do not stop on turns.
  • Always be looking for hidden hazards.
  • Do not overdrive your headlights.
  • Do not leave children unattended on your snowmobile.
  • Your speed should coincide with trail conditions. Save the speed for the various races held throughout the year.
Things to Remember:
When setting out for ride, make sure that someone knows roughly what time to expect your return. Err on the side of caution and take enough provisions that should something happen, you will be prepared. These things should include:
  • flashlight
  • cell phone
  • food and water
  • blanket
  • extra socks and gloves
  • spare belt and plugs
  • GPS and spare batteries
  • First Aid Kit
  • nylon rope (rescue line)
  • extra fuel
